Naan



Ingredients :
  • 250 gm all purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon curd
  • 1 heaped teaspoon yeast
  • 3 tablespoon oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon onion seed
  • 1/4 cup warm water
How to prepare :
  1. Dissolve yeast in a warm water,add sugar and leave for 5 minutes.
  2. Mix all purpose flour,2 tablespoon oil,salt,egg and curd in a bowl.
  3. Add fermented yeast into flour mixture.
  4. Knead  dough until soft and smooth.
  5. Place dough in a greased pan and cover it for 3 hours or until the dough has doubled in volume.
  6. After that preheat the oven at 350 F.
  7. Knead the dough and divide into 4 equal balls.
  8. Place balls in a greased bowl and cover it for another 1 hour.
  9. Heat a flat pan on medium-high heat.
  10. Press each ball into an oval shape with the help of hand(don't use roller pin).
  11. Sprinkle onion seeds on top.
  12. Place naan on preheated pan for 1 minute or until bubbles form.
  13. Remove from pan and place into an oven at 500 F for 30 sec or until golden.
  14. Serve naan with paya or your favorite gravy.

  5. A fine recipe, and one of the easiest since a tandoori oven is not practical for my kitchen situation - but, good Gawd, how I love Indian breads.
